The Origin

Our company is located in Cervera del Río Alhama, a small village in the heart of the Alhama Valley, where the land and human hands have worked together for generations.

This valley, declared a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, was where the espadrille industry began in Spain, linked to the cultivation and processing of hemp used to make the first soles. Here, the espadrille is not a fleeting fashion: it is identity, it is memory, and it is a craft.

Cervera is considered the birthplace of the espadrille in our country. For decades, it was common to see neighbors sitting at their doorways, sewing in the street and sharing conversation while shaping each pair. The espadrille was part of the landscape and daily life.

Each stitch supported the family economy, but also strengthened the bonds of a community that grew around this craft. This heritage is what we feel is our own.

Salvi Footwear currently

Our family grew up in that environment. Our grandparents were always involved with espadrilles, dedicated to manufacturing jute soles when this work was much more than a profession: it was a way to get ahead with perseverance and dignity. From them, we inherited respect for the craft and the importance of doing things well, without shortcuts.

The second generation, in 1993, took the step of founding the company as we know it today. We started with the classic, traditional espadrille, and from there, we evolved: incorporating new fabrics, leathers, heights, and designs, but maintaining something that has never changed: hand stitching and respect for natural materials.

Over time, we also added the manufacturing of winter slippers, applying the same care, the same attention to detail, and the same search for comfort that we have always championed in our espadrilles. Because, whether it's summer or winter, our goal has always been the same: to create comfortable, natural, and lovingly made footwear.

Our legacy

Today, a new generation works with the same enthusiasm as our grandparents, learning from the journey taken and contributing new ideas so that the company continues to grow and advance steadily into the future.

We have learned that moving forward does not mean forgetting where we come from. That is why we continue to work in Spain, relying on expert hands, many of them women from our area, who understand this craft as we do: with patience, with pride, and as a team. We are committed to careful, flexible, and local production, capable of adapting to each client without sacrificing craftsmanship.

Today our collections cross borders, but our core remains intact. We are a family business that believes in a job well done, in tradition as a starting point, and in innovation as a path.

Because when someone puts on Salvi espadrilles, they are not just wearing comfortable, carefully designed footwear. They are carrying a piece of Cervera. They are carrying history. And they are walking with us.
